The world comes together to pray for students

Mark Barry | Oct 24th, 2011

It was fantastic to see the World Student Day in action last Friday (21 October), as the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) came together to celebrate the work of God in the lives of students and to pray for one another around the world.

The AFES National Office spent the morning studying Paul’s prayers for the Colossians and then prayed for the student movements in France, England, Italy, Slovenia, Iran, Zimbabwe, as well as for South Pacific students in Fiji, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu. The IFES International Service Centre broadcast their prayer meeting online, prayer points were tweeted and retweeted between time zones and student groups prayed from Tonga to Samoa around the globe in over 48 hours.

What an incredible reminder that we’re not only personally connected to an international fellowship of Christian students, but we’re personally connected to the Lord and Saviour of the universe through prayer!

Please continue to pray for the 500,000+ Christian students in 157 countries around the world that they would be faithful followers and witnesses of the Lord Jesus, walking ‘in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.’ (Colossians 1:10)
