About AFES
The Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES) seeks to fulfil a Christ-centred and bible-based Mission of ‘proclaiming Jesus Christ at university’. It has been doing this work since 1930 in partnership and as a fellowship of student led affiliates. The AFES now has affiliate groups at most universities.

The AFES National Office, based in Kingsford Sydney, is an important support service to staff and students across the nation. It is essential that applicants have a personal commitment to Christ and alignment with the vision, mission and values of AFES.(see http://afes.org.au/about )

Role Summary
Reporting to the National and Deputy National Directors, the Executive Assistant role is a full time position providing end to end professional and administrative support to the Executive Team, Board, National Leadership Team and various subcommittees. It includes attending and assisting at meetings, acting as Company Secretary and supporting members in their tasks, taking responsibility for arrangements and a range of compliance matters.

This is a stimulating and highly responsible opportunity for a dedicated, experienced EA, requiring maturity, competency, trust. It is important for the successful candidate to have a good track record in a similar role with a high degree of confidentiality.

This position is based at the AFES National Office, Kingsford, but also involves travel for events and meetings as well as working from home as required.

Duties and responsibilities
Executive Support, and Company Secretary

This includes:

  • Meeting support - convening and arranging all aspects of governance and leadership meetings.
  • Communication - with, and on behalf of executive, Board & NLT team members.
  • Meeting events - Attending at leadership committees and conferences.
  • Record keeping and distribution - agendas and minutes
  • Arrangements – Scheduling, travel, venue and practical bookings.
  • Board compliance responsibilities – updating ACNC, ASIC, records, registers, archives, policies, privacy etc.
  • General support - for Executive Team, research, presentations, documents & reports
  • Head Office support - as required in conjunction with National Operations manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Servant-hearted and a heart for the ministry of AFES.
  • Excellent communication skills with service focus.
  • EA experience involving high levels of confidentiality and professional support.
  • Experience within a non-profit or mission organisation (preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience in executive & board procedures, with ability to drive all processes.
  • Adaptable and flexible self manager who can deliver outcomes at a high standard.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team environment in a ministry setting.
  • Collaborative and transparent communicator with high EQ.
  • High computer literacy, accuracy and attention to detail.
