A little bit about me

Since joining 'Credo' in January of 2005, I have been working with the Design Arts and Humanities students and most days you can find me doing a number of things ranging from helping to train ministry apprentices and small group leaders, running weekly bible studies or doing pastoral care. One of my aims as I work with the Credo students, is to encourage them to be bringing all aspects of their lives to God in light of the grace that He offers to us all. On campus, and in life in general, I am passionate about holiness - what would it look like to be a community of people who are constantly transformed to be more like Jesus Christ? Please make this desire for holiness your constant prayer for us.

May in Credo

It’s been a great month with lots to celebrate and give thanks for at Credo. Over Easter we ran a cross campus mission with all sorts of things: Hot cross buns (obviously) a pancake breakfast, a public screening of “The Passion of the Christ” and three public talks with a coffee Q&A time afterwards.

The talks where on: Finding life in an empty world, How Jesus can bring you back from the dead and Death after life. Praise God we know of at least one person who became a Christian through one of the talks and another who has become a Christian from ETC.

And isn’t that amazing?! Isn’t that what we’re here for?!

This week (4th-7th MAY) all of the Credo staff team headed to the Sydney Missionary Bible College preaching conference and it was such a worthwhile thing to do. We heard from a number of speakers and I found myself often encouraged, challenged and rebuked within the one seminar. I’d highly recommend that you head over to the SMBC website and work out a way to get a hold of the mp3’s or DVD’s because it would be a valuable investment for all.

Over the weekend (May 8th-10th) we have taken 43 students to the Blue Mountains for a combined faculty retreat, the IDEAL Getaway, to look at the topic of “Spiritual Warfare”. It was great to have three talks and discussion groups that were really challenging and stretching for all and I was able to have some really important conversations with a number of students. One student, who has only been a Christian for a few months, told me that he’s been so challenged lately about how much he needs to learn about and through the bible that he wants to take a year to study it! Please also pray for the two non Christians who were there that they were both challenged and encouraged to see the need for Jesus in their lives.

Please read the ETC and beyond article for more details about the wonderful time that we had with Sam Chan learning about ‘Amazing Grace’ and a brief survey of what I did in New Zealand. Also, in 40 days (and counting) you can keep informed about how you can pray from me in my last few weeks on campus for a while.

Also, if you didn’t already know I’m having a VERY important night on Saturday May 30th – a dessert/fundraising/information night. Please email me now if you haven’t received and invitation and would like more details.

Some current prayer points

o For those who have come to faith, or close to, since Easter that the Holy Spirit would be working powerfully in them to nurture their young faith or keep prompting them with questions that they must find answers for.

  • Thanks that I was able to have a fun and refreshing time in NZ
  • Praise for all of the things that we learned and were challenged by at SMBC preaching conference. For all of us that we wont limit God by our prayers – that we will pray big prayers because we know that He is a big God who wants to answer them.
  • Thanks that Jesus’ death and resurrection means that we have nothing to fear against the Accuser and pray that we will all be more dependant on the Holy Spirit and that we will delight in the fullness of God’s Grace and the joy that we have freedom from our sinful past.
  • For energy to get through the next few weeks
